CEPII, France’s leading research centre in international economics, is seeking an economist specialising in international trade.The successful candidate will conduct research on international trade as part of the ‘International Trade’ team, which focuses on key topics such as the determinants of firms’ export competitiveness, multinational enterprises, the economic consequences of trade openness, and geo-economics.
The successful candidate will contribute to the CEPII’s research programme and disseminate their findings through a variety of channels, including academic publications, conferences, applied policy analyses, outreach articles, and reports for public administrations. They will also be involved in developing new quantitative trade models and enhancing and managing CEPII’s databases, thereby strengthening the institution’s analytical capabilities.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong interest in economic policy and a willingness to address current economic issues while developing research projects in line with CEPII's agenda. The position offers a stimulating environment, with opportunities to engage with international researchers and public institutions.
Start date: september 2025 (flexible)
Contract type: 3-year public sector contract, renewable

Candidate profile
- The position is open to both junior and senior candidates, depending on experience and publication record. Salary and responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly.
- A PhD in international trade.
- Strong applied econometrics and computer skills (Stata / R).
- A keen interest in international economic issues and policy-making, along with strong writing skills and intellectual rigour, is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a research-driven environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English; a good understanding of French would be an asset.
